Position Overview:

The Behavioral Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Kinbridge at Oviedo Assisted Living Facility (ALF) is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care and behavioral support to residents. This role focuses on monitoring residents’ behavioral and health status, administering medications, assisting with care plans, and promoting emotional and physical well-being in a supportive residential environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in behavioral health and a passion for helping individuals maintain stability, dignity, and independence.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Behavioral Monitoring

  • Provide direct nursing care to residents in accordance with individualized service and behavioral care plans.

  • Conduct routine health and behavioral assessments, observing for changes in physical condition, mood, or behavior.

  • Monitor and document residents’ responses to medications and interventions.

  • Support behavioral management plans and apply therapeutic communication to de-escalate challenging behaviors.

  • Communicate any significant changes to the Resident Care Director or physician promptly.

Medication Administration & Documentation

  • Administer medications accurately and safely following the seven medication rights.

  • Document all medication administration, behavioral observations, and treatments per facility and state guidelines.

  • Monitor for side effects or adverse reactions and report immediately to the appropriate healthcare provider.

  • Maintain accurate Medication Administration Records (MARs) and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with the Resident Care Director, caregivers, and external providers to ensure consistent, quality resident care.

  • Participate in care plan meetings to update or revise plans as residents’ needs evolve.

  • Communicate effectively with residents’ families, physicians, and staff regarding changes in care or behavior.

  • Support a team-oriented environment built on respect, trust, and resident-centered care.

Resident Support & Daily Living

  • Promote independence and assist residents with daily living activities as needed, maintaining dignity and comfort.

  • Encourage residents to engage in therapeutic and social activities aligned with their behavioral care goals.

  • Provide education on health, medication, and coping strategies to support emotional stability.

  • Foster a calm and positive environment that reinforces residents’ safety and well-being.

Safety & Crisis Intervention

  • Follow facility safety and behavioral intervention protocols to prevent and manage crisis situations.

  • Respond promptly to behavioral or medical emergencies, ensuring proper documentation and communication.

  • Identify and report environmental or behavioral safety risks to the Resident Care Director.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete and maintain accurate nursing and behavioral documentation in compliance with facility policy and state regulations.

  • Ensure confidentiality of resident information following HIPAA standards.

  • Participate in audits and assist with compliance and quality improvement initiatives as needed.

Professional Development

  • Maintain current LPN licensure and certifications, including CPR and First Aid.

  • Attend required training sessions, in-service education, and professional development programs.

  • Stay informed on best practices in behavioral health and senior care.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Florida.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in behavioral health, assisted living, or long-term care.

  • Strong understanding of behavioral health and medication administration practices.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle behavioral challenges calmly and professionally.

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and teamwork.

  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds and assist residents as needed.
